9:34 p.m. Burglary and theft were reported in the 600 block of East Bank Street. The victim reported a Play Station, laptop, camera, television and money valued at $4,450 were stolen.

May 12

3:35 p.m. Burglary and theft were reported in the 700 block of East Van Buren Street. The victim reported that CDs, a lighter and cigarettes valued at $88 were stolen.

May 24

11:31 p.m. Kayla Elaine Benson, 19, Jamie Taylor Fincher, 18, Daniel Joseph Cisler, 19, Russell Dewayne Bauer, 19, and Jakob Reed Hawkins, 19, all of Centerville, were each charged in the 1600 block of South 16th Street with possession of alcohol under age.

May 25

4:44 p.m. Theft was reported in the 400 block of South 18th Street. The victim reported a leaf blower and weed eater valued at $200 were stolen.

May 26

12:36 a.m. Bryan William Caster, 34, of Albia, was charged at 18th and Green streets with having an open container in a motor vehicle.

12:38 a.m. Michelle Renae Stufflebeam, 23, of Moulton, was charged in the 700 block of West Lane Street with having an open container in a motor vehicle.

1:08 a.m. Nathaniel Aaron Stufflebeem, 23, of Centerville, was charged in the 700 block of West Lane Street with OWI, first offense.

2:47 a.m. Daniel Wayne Stroud, 51, of Centerville, was charged in 900 block of East Oneal Street with public intoxication.

8:35 p.m. Theft was reported at 12th and Van Buren streets. The victim reported a wallet, money, driver’s license and social security card valued at $38 were stolen.

May 28

1:51 a.m. Jacob Leroy Owens, 21, of Centerville, was charged in the 800 block of North 18th Street with OWI, first offense.

9:10 a.m. Mark Allen Keeney, 40, of Centerville, had his pre-trial release revoked in the 200 block of West Van Buren Street.

9:14 a.m. Mark Allen Keeney, 40, of Centerville, was charged at the Law Center with fifth degree theft.

May 29

9 a.m. Troy Lee Hilty, 42, of Centerville, was charged in the 400 block of South 18th Street with possession of a controlled substance. He later posted bond and was released.

May 30

5 p.m. Randy Lee Thompson, Jr., 29, of Seymour, was charged in the 900 block of East Maple Street with simple domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
