The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a personal injury accident at the northeast side of Corydon on North East Street. A 2006 Ford F150 driven by Terri Lynn Gathercole, 61, of Corydon, was northbound on North East Street when the driver fell asleep. The truck then went into the ditch, struck a tree and rolled onto its right side. Damage to Gathercole’s truck was estimated at $6,000. The driver was transported by the Wayne County Ambulance to the Wayne County Hospital. Also assisting at the scene was the Corydon Fire Department.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rene Dawn Risinger, 33, of Mason City, on a Wayne County warrant for failure to appear for a show of cause hearing. The charge was in connection with a fraud charge in 2012. Risinger was transported to Corydon and appeared before the magistrate the following day. She was held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office arrested Galen Ray St. John, 40, of Leon, on Wayne County warrant for one count of domestic abuse assault and two counts of child endangerment. The charges were in connection with an incident at a residence on 10th Street in Richman Township northwest of Humeston on Oct. 25. St. John was released after posting $2,000 bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Devon Lee Funk, 30, of Garden Grove, following a one car accident on Highway 2 approximately one mile west of Highway 65. The vehicle driven by Funk left the roadway and went into the north ditch and into a field where it rolled several times. Funk was charged with operating while intoxicated, failure to maintain control and failure to have a valid driver’s license. Funk appeared before the magistrate and was released on his own recognizance. Assisting at the scene were the Wayne County Ambulance, Humeston First Responders and Corydon and Humeston Fire Departments.
