3 a.m. Burglary and theft were reported in the 2000 block of South 16th Street. The victim reported a wallet and several credit cards and ID valued at $100 were stolen.
Jacob Reed Hawkins, of Centerville, was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee in the 500 block of West Lane and was intentionally sliding around on the snow covered streets when he lost control of the vehicle and slid off the roadway hitting a brick pillar at the entrance of the Centerville City Park. Damage to Hawkins vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Hawkins was charged with failure to maintain control.
11:23 a.m. Angela Sue Foxen, 44, and Ashley Elizabeth Huckman, 26, both of Albia, were each charged at the Law Center with third degree theft. Both later posted bond and were released.
6:38 p.m. A hit and run was reported in the 200 block of South 18th Street. The victim reported damage to a 1995 Ford Taurus. Damage was estimated at $1,200.
7:25 p.m. Cody Rayvon Smothers, 23, of Centerville, was charged in the 400 block of West Maple Street with extortion.
10:50 p.m. Burglary and criminal mischief were reported in the 800 block of East Jackson Street. The victim reported damage to a book shelf and couch. Damage was estimated at $150.
Nettie Nyrn, of Corydon, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer east on West Maple Street when the light changed at the intersection of 10th and Maple streets. Nyrn stopped her vehicle for the light. Terry Rebol, of Moravia, was driving a 2004 International Semi and was following Nyrn's vehicle and observed the vehicle stop. Rebol failed to stop his vehicle in time and it rear ended Nyrn's vehicle. Rebol said that Nyrn's vehicle stopped abruptly which caused him not to be able to stop his vehicle in time. Nyrn stated she had a headache and neck pain following the crash but refused medical treatment at the scene but was going by private vehicle to the hospital. Damage to Rebol's vehicle was estimated at $750. Damage to Nyrn's vehicle was estimated at $500. Rebol was charged with failure to maintain control.
