5:12 p.m. Mariah Jean Ross, 19, of Centerville, was driving a 1990 Toyota Camry north on 205th Avenue. As Ross’ vehicle rounded the curve onto 490th Street it met a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael David Vinzant, 34, of Mystic. Ross’ vehicle struck Vinzant’s vehicle in the left front fender and door. Damage to Ross’ vehicle was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Vinzant’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

9:09 p.m. Mark Benjamin Hancox, 60, of Centerville, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado west in the 22000 block of Highway J18. A deer entered the roadway from the South and was struck. Damage to Hancox’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

July 3

10:11 a.m. Roderick Alan Klampe, 53, of Moravia, went through the sex offender registry process at the Law Center. He was later released on his own recognizance.

9:08 p.m. Jason J. Adams, 37, of Mystic, was charged in the 1000 block of South Main Street with failure to appear and on two out of county warrants. He later posted bond and was released.

July 4

2:27 a.m. Daryl Dewayne Larue, Jr., 34, of Kirksville, Mo., was charged in the 700 block of West Willow Lane with first degree burglary, going armed with intent, second degree criminal mischief, OWI, first offense, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
