A Wayne County Jail inmate is facing charges following an incident in the Wayne County Jail. Cory Dwayne Short, 30, of Centerville, will be charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer, a class D felony. Short, who has been held on drug charges from Appanoose County since July 11 was then transferred to the Marshall County Jail following the incident.
Corydon Police arrested Nicholas Anthony Purcell, 22, of Overland Park, Kansas, on a charge of fifth degree criminal mischief following as incident at a residence on East State Street in Corydon. Purcell appeared before the magistrate later in the day and was released on his own recognizance.
The Iowa Department of Transportation Enforcement arrested Tyler Ward Shipley, 39, of Oskaloosa, on a charge of driving while barred following a traffic stop on Highway 14 near Raccoon Road. Shipley appeared before the magistrate the following day and was released after posting $200 bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonathan W. Jeffries, 31, of Allerton, on a charge of driving while suspended. Jeffries appeared before the magistrate the following day, pleaded guilty to the charge, was fined and released.
Corydon Police arrested Audrey Michelle Johnson, 32, of Centerville, on Wayne County warrants for assault, disorderly conduct and providing false information. The charges were in connection with an incident on June 28 in Harvard. Johnson appeared before the magistrate the following day and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
