The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a property damage accident approximately seven miles north of Corydon. A 1997 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Timothy Barton Irving, 24, of Corydon, was southbound on Highway 14 near Uniform Road when it struck and killed a black cow that was standing in the roadway. Damage to Irving’s car was estimated at $6,000. The cow owned by John Knolke, of Corydon, was valued at $800.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a personal injury accident southwest of Allerton. A 1997 Dodge Dakota driven by Jeremy Lee Hayden, 26, of Corydon, was southbound on Highway S22 when the driver swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle then went into the ditch where it rolled over and came to rest on its wheels. Damage to Hayden’s truck was estimated at $3,500. Hayden was transported to the Wayne County Hospital by the Wayne County Ambulance. Also assisting at the scene were the Allerton First Responders.
Seymour Police arrested Dennis Weston Greer, 63, of Pleasantville, on a charge of operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop on North Fifth Street in Seymour. Greer appeared before the magistrate the following day and was released after posting bond.
Corydon Police arrested Brandon Scott Moore, 29, of Chariton, after a complaint of a disruptive person at a Corydon business. Moore was charged with operating while intoxicated, open container and disorderly conduct. Moore appeared before the magistrate and was released after posting bond.
Joe Throckmorton, of Humeston, reported that a black Top Hand flatbed trailer and steel fence posts had been taken from his property on 70th Street in Richman Township. The trailer and fence posts were valued at $2,000.
Corydon Police investigated a personal injury accident at East Jackson and North Johnson streets in Corydon. A 2001 Ford Focus driven by Sherry Lea Smith, 53, of Albia and a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by Charles Wayne Poindexter, 48, of Corydon, collided in the intersection. Damage to Smith’s car was estimated at $5,000 and to Poindexter’s truck at $4,000. Smith was issued a citation for failure to obey a yield sign. Assisting at the scene were the Wayne County Sheriff and Wayne County Ambulance.
