6:12 p.m. The Appanoose County Sheriff’s office reported an accident at Highway 5 and 555th Street. Darrell Dean Keeney, 62, of Cincinnati, driving a 2000 Ford F150 south on Highway 5, which was ice covered, slid off the road and entered the west ditch striking a tree. Keeney had to be extricated from the truck. Keeney was transported to Mercy Hospital by Mercy Ambulance with incapacitating injuries. Damage to the truck was estimated at $7,000.
12:08 p.m. Kyle Taylor Thomas, 18, of Centerville, was charged at the Law Center with first degree burglary and assault while participating in a felony.
6:09 p.m. Gunnar Ray Sleeth, 19, of Exline, was charged at 220 E. Third St. with first degree burglary and assault while participating in a felony. Sleeth posted bond and was released the next day.
8:53 a.m. The Appanoose County Sheriff’s office reported an accident at Highway J46 and 138th Avenue. Thatcher Christian Carel, 19, of Seymour, driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt east on Highway J46 struck a deer that had entered the road. Carel was not injured. Damage to the Cobalt was estimated at $3,500.
12:56 p.m. Bret James Tratchel, 41, of Riverside, was charged in the 1100 block of West Van Buren Street with first degree theft. He was released by order of court later that day.
3:37 a.m. Richard Joseph Riley, 24, of Unionville, Mo., was charged in the 26000 block of 160th Avenue with OWI second, open container in a motor vehicle and failure to maintain control. He was released on his own recognizance later that day.
