Jan. 13

12 p.m. Criminal mischief was reported in the 1000 block of North 18th Street. The victim reported a damaged fence. Damage was estimated at $150.

Jan. 14

7:51 p.m. Striking an unattended vehicle was reported on the Centerville Square. The owner of the vehicle reported damage to a 1997 Ford Mustang. Damage was estimated at $500.

Jan. 26

9:21 a.m. Burglary and theft were reported in the 600 block of North Main Street. The victim reported an Xbox 360, a game and money valued at $350 were stolen.

Jan. 27

7:31 a.m. Burglary and theft were reported in the 200 block of North 13th Street. The victim reported that $10,000 in cash was stolen.

Jan. 28

Forgery and theft were reported in the 23000 block of Highway 5. A surround sound system valued at $78 was reported stolen.

Jan. 29

7:57 p.m. Joanne Jacqueline Cave, 40, of Ottumwa, was charged in the 100 block of West Van Buren Street with two out of county warrants. She was later transferred.

Jan. 30

7:24 p.m. Barbara Jean Pierce, 43, of Centerville, was charged in the 300 block of West Prairie Street with simple assault.

Feb. 1

3:15 a.m. Nicholas Cody Cone, 22, of Centerville, was charged in the 900 block of South 11th Street on an out of county warrant. He was later released on order of the court.

9:47 a.m. Brandon Lee Gooden, 33, of Centerville, was charged in the 600 block of West Maple Street with parole violation and interference with official acts.

Feb. 3

10:26 a.m. Timmy Leslie Leopard, Jr., 32, of Mystic, was charged at Lodwick and East School streets with communication harassment.

12:14 p.m. Troy Lee Hilty, 42, of Centerville, had his pre-trial release revoked at the Law Center.

8:21 p.m. Sara Dawn Blew, 32, of Centerville, was charged at the Law Center with fifth degree theft and disorderly conduct. She was later released on her own recognizance.

Feb. 3-4

A juvenile was charged in the 300 block of East Cottage Street with simple assault and assault causing bodily injury.

Feb. 4

Lorrie Gene Thudium, 33, of Centerville, was charged in the 200 block of West Jackson Street with disorderly conduct and fifth degree criminal mischief.

5:57 p.m. Dennis Lee Collis, Jr., 42, of Centerville, was charged in the 600 block of North Main Street on an out of county warrant.

Feb. 5

12:10 a.m. Crystal Renea Ingersoll, 29, of Centerville, had her parole/probation revoked and was charged with interference with official acts at the Law Center.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the solicitation ordinance that will prevent groups or individuals from entering a roadway to solicit money. The Centerville City Council in June by a 5-0 vote passed the first reading of just such an ordinance. Public pressure and during a subsequent special meeting, the council voted 3-2 to table the ordinance. A second special meeting to discuss the solicitation ordinance is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at City Hall. So, the question of the week is, "Do you or do you not support the ordinance to prevent solicitation of funds in city streets?"
