The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a property damage accident approximately two miles west of Corydon. A 2002 Dodge pickup driven by Keith Herbert Murphy, 39, of Allerton and a 2000 Honda Civic driven by Jesse Lee Wik, 16, of Lineville, were eastbound on Highway 2 when a deer ran into the roadway. Murphy attempted to stop to avoid hitting the deer and was struck in the rear by Wik. Damage to Murphy’s truck was estimated at $1,500 and to Wik’s car at $2,500. Wik was issued a citation for failure to stop in an assured clear distance.
Chris Nesteby at the Corydon MFA reported to Corydon Police that a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer was missing from the office. Value of the computer was not listed.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gordon Howard Henkelvig, 65, of Allerton, on a Wayne County warrant for failure to appear for sentencing. The charge was in connection with an operating while intoxicated incident in 2010. Henkelvig appeared before the magistrate and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested three individuals following the report of a traffic accident and robbery at 230th Street and Vine Road in Wright Township. Edwin Dallas Prothero, III, 23, of Chariton, was charged with operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended and filing a false report with law enforcement. Rodney Lee Davis, 26, of Patterson, was charged with filing a false report with law enforcement and Brandon Lee Braaksma, 27, of Sioux Falls, S.D. was arrested on a South Dakota warrant for grand theft. All appeared before the magistrate the following day and were held in the Wayne County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000 each for Prothero and Davis. Braaksma is being held pending extradition to South Dakota.
The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Donald Ervin Schramm, III, 43, of Centerville, on a Wayne County warrant for failure to appear. Schramm was transported to Corydon where he is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
