July 14
Seymour police assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office charged Robert William Lee, 47, of Seymour with domestic assault abuse following an incident at a Seymour residence. Lee appeared before the magistrate later that day and was released on his own recognizance.
July 15
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a personal injury accident north of Promise City. A 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Ward Broughton Bracewell, 57, of Allerton was southbound on S56 when it struck a deer. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $1,300. Assisting at the scene was the Wayne County ambulance.
July 16
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigated a personal injury accident approximately two miles south of Humeston. The sheriff reported a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Phillip Edward George, 68, of Corydon was southbound of Highway 65 when the driver fell asleep and went into the west ditch where it struck a driveway embankment and became airborne. Damage to George’s truck was estimated at $5,000 Assisting at the scene were the Wayne County Ambulance, the Humeston First Responders, the Humeston Fire Department and Corydon police.
July 18
Aaron Lee Berry, 28, of Seymour began serving a 48-hour sentence in the Wayne County Jail on an earlier conviction of assault.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office charged Randy Neal Johnson Jr., 18, of Fremont on several Wayne County warrants. The charges were in connection with a gas drive-off and vehicle pursuit from Allerton on July 15. Johnson was charged with two counts of eluding, two counts of speeding and one count each of reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign and fifth degree theft. Johnson appeared before the magistrate the following day and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $3,200 bond.
