18-80 Club makes second attempt at Omaha trip

June will offer many new and exciting activities. If you have not been by the club recently you must take a trip our way. The windows are now totally completed with the funding of these totally by the BOB group. The siding, soffits and eves are being worked on, and what a nice job D&T Company is doing. We wish to thank all the volunteers that have helped make this dream a reality. Lots of fundraisers were held to fund the siding project and now all our hard work is showing up. We would also like to express our appreciation to the Appanoose County Community Fund for their grant money.

We started off the month on Monday, June 3. This was the day that several came in and signed up for the Omaha/Council Bluffs trip. This trip will be July 16-18 and includes motor coach transportation, admission with guided tours of the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Boy’s Town which also includes lunch, Joslyn’s Castle, St. Cecilia’s Cathedral and two nights lodging at the Ameristar Casino. Cost per person on this trip with double occupancy is $225 per person. We tried to take this trip last year and did not get enough people to go. Do not wait until last minute to sign up. We need 40 people by June 25 in order to make this trip a reality.

On June 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. was the first day to sign-up for the distribution of Farmer’s Market coupons. These coupons are for $30 of fresh fruits and vegetables during the months of June-October. In order to receive them you must be 60 years of age or older at the time of application, live in the service area and have a household yearly income of $21,256 for singles or $28,693 for married couples. If interested, call before you come at (641) 856-8627. When the booklets are gone we will have a waiting list sheet to sign on.
