CENTERVILLE LEGION POST 214, meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Continental at St. Joseph’s in the meeting room to the right of the V.A. office.

APPANOOSE COUNTY WEEKLY MEALS, invites everyone to enjoy a free meal and fellowship every Monday at Faith United Methodist Church on Highway 5 south near John Deere. Meals are available from 5-6 p.m. The menu for Monday will be hamburgers and Coney dogs, potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs and peach cobbler with milk, lemonade, water, coffee or tea to drink. Light of Life Church from Moravia will be hosting this meal.

TUESDAY 4

DAVIS COUNTY FARMER’S MARKET, will be held from 3-6 p.m. on the Davis County Courthouse lawn in Bloomfield.

BOB GROUP, meets at Centerville CIty Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

JOIN NEST, a parent education class for expecting parents or parents with children up to 3 years old. Any parents can attend by filling out an enrollment packet. There is a class held at 1:30 p.m., one at 5 p.m. and one at 6 p.m. each Tuesday at the Extension Office, 501 N. 12th St. in Centerville.

TAKING OFF  POUNDS  SENSIBLY, “TOPS,” meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

AMERICAN LEGION 280, in Moulton, will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Legion Hall.

TOUCHING OUR GRIEF, an ongoing educational grief and support group though HCI Care Service, meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the office HCI Care Services, 103 E. HONEY CREEK, 10-11 a.m. — Kayaking 101 — Now is the perfect time to learn to kayak for free! During this 1-hour program participants will get hands-on experience shuttling their kayaks, getting in and out, and paddling on the lake. Meet at the Kayaking Beach located just north of the boat docks. Solo kayaks and paddle will be provided. Some PFDs are available but participants may bring their own. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet. This class is for people 12 years and older. Minors must have a guardian present and participating. Participants must feel comfortable in the water. Space is limited. HONEY CREEK, 10-11 a.m. — Kayaking 101 — Now is the perfect time to learn to kayak for free! During this 1-hour program participants will get hands-on experience shuttling their kayaks, getting in and out, and paddling on the lake. 11 a.m.-12 p.m. — Family Kayaking — This special program is designed for children under the age of 12 with a participating guardian. Together, the child and guardian will learn the basics of kayaking on dry land. When it comes time to launch, the guardian will wade into the water and hold the boat for the child, then allow them to demonstrate their paddling techniques. Meet at the Kayaking Beach located just north of the boat docks. Kayaks and paddles will be provided. Some PFDs are available but participants may bring their own. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet. This class is for people under 12 years old with a guardian. Participants must feel comfortable in the water. Space is limited. Meet on the deck of the Activities Building. Great for all ages. 9-10 p.m. — Stargazing — View the constellations and delve into the myths and legends of the night sky. Meet on the deck of the Activities Building. Great for all ages.

UNIONVILLE IOWA LEGION POST, meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Legion Building.

HPC DRIVE THROUGH DINNER, will be held at State Street Station at 5 p.m. Menu will be grilled chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and dessert. Cost is $6. Free delivery within Centerville by calling (641) 895-4513. Proceeds go to the trolley.

HONEY CREEK, 9-11 a.m. — Kayaking Tour — Get closer to nature during this two hour kayaking tour with a naturalist. This program is perfect for people with some kayaking experience. Meet at the Kayaking Beach located just north of the boat docks. Participants must have prior kayaking experience and feel confident in their abilities to shuttle, launch and maneuver their kayak. Kayaks and paddle will be provided. Some PFDs are available but participants may bring their own. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet. For people 12 years and older. Minors myst be accompanied by a guardian. Participants must feel comfortable in the water. Space is limited. Great for all ages. 6-6:30 p.m. — Plant Pressing — Learn the art of pressing plants and the many uses for these beautifully preserved specimen during this half-hour program. Meet in the Lodge lobby. Great for all ages.

SATURDAY 8

Ages 7 years and older. 3-3:30 p.m. — Sun Catchers. 5-6 p.m. — Glass Lizard Hike — Join a naturalist on this one hour hike to seek one of Iowa’s unique lizards. Meet on the deck of the Activities Building. Great for all aged. 7-7:30 p.m. — Nature Tales — Join a naturalist around the Activities Building fire ring to enjoy s’mores and hear a story about nature. If weather is not suitable for being outside, we will read a story by the lobby fireplace. 9-10 p.m. — Stargazing — View constellations and delve into the myths and legend of the night sky. Meet on the deck of the Activities Building. Great for all ages.

SUNDAY 9
