Wild weather huh? Well I wasn’t surprised to see the season off to a roaring start sirens blaring. Thankfully we missed out on the big damage. I would like to take the time to send my prayers and thoughts to all the people who lost loved ones from these devastating weather events. We as a city should be prepared and on alert for these situations, as much as one could be. I’m not saying we can avoid what may come but a little preparedness never hurts.
The community center is equipped with very limited supplies for an event if needed but I think we could use a little more. I would like to create a group of area residents to help get supplies and plans in case there is a need for the center to be used as a shelter. They already have a generator and they are in contact with the Red Cross and would receive help from them but I want you to ponder the thought that they may not be able to get here for any reason what would we need to take care of our local people. I’m not saying that we need to be prepared for the world ending, just a little community readiness.
I would like to try to get donations for the center like blankets, bottled water, canned food, etc. That way if we need to use it, it’s there. I’m just putting this out there and would like some thoughts or volunteers for my little project you can contact me by my email email@example.com or give me a call at (641) 895-4022.
Enough of that now on to the news and recipe. I think that this is a good time to start making salads so I will start with Broccoli Salad my way.
