Four generations serve

Steve Tait was installed as Worshipful Master of Mystic Masonic Lodge 588 on Jan. 13. Steve’s father, Wendell, served in that position in 1971, 1983, 1992 and 2003, the 100th anniversary of the Mystic Lodge. Steve’s grandfather, Emory Tait, was Worshipful Master twice, in 1948 and 1972. Robert H. Tait, Steve’s great-grandfather, was the first Worshipful Master when the lodge was chartered on June 15, 1904. This shows the great history of one family serving Masonry.

Other officers installed on Jan. 13 were Senior Warden, Ivan Curtis; Junior Warden, Tom Young; Treasurer, David Vinzant; Secretary, Richard Wakefield; Senior Deacon, Ed Smith; Junior Deacon, Neal Smith; Senior Steward, Bill McDanel; Junior Steward, Art Bates; Tyler, Royce Joiner; and Chaplain, William Vinzant.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about rental permit fees. The Centerville City Council has conducted two working sessions and a third one is planned in order to get a feel for the public's appetite about raising rental permit fees from charging a landlord $25 every two years to charging a certain amount per rental unit per year. So, the question of the week is, "Are you in favor of Centerville increasing rental permit fees?"

A. I'm in favor.
B. I'm not in favor.
C. I'm not sure.
