Marybeth Heikes’ watercolor, “Soldiers & Sables,” has been accepted in the Rockies West 22nd Annual National Exhibition. This show will be held at The Art Center in Grand Junction, Colo. from March 5 through April 4.
Heikes’ painting is one of her popular and favorite subject matter of chairs and all are completed on a full sheet of archival watercolor paper 22 x 30. She has completed more than 100 in this series and each one is a unique statement depicting a variety of chairs as the main element, along with jungle plants and other interesting icons using a bold color palette. These paintings have been included in numerous national exhibitions from New York City to Los Angeles and north to Bigfork, Mont. and as far south as New Orleans. In addition, she has received awards in many of these shows. She began this series in the late 1980s up to the present. Last year her watercolors were included in 10 national exhibitions and six regional shows.
Many of her works are found in both public and private collections in the U.S. and Europe. Marybeth is a member of the American Watercolor Society, a signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. She maintains a home studio and paints everyday. Visitors are welcome by appointment. More of her work can be viewed at her website: www.mheikes.com.
