---- — Five early childhood teachers from Kid’s World recently attended the Iowa Project Group Meeting in Des Moines.

The educators implemented the Project Approach at the Center several years ago.

Educators from across the state meet annually to share documentation from the projects conducted in their classrooms.

Three of the teachers also presented projects at the event.

Preschool teacher, Dawn Johnson, presented documentation from her four-year old preschool class “Healthy Me Study.” Karrie Ingram, preschool teacher of the three-year-olds, presented her “Baby Study.” Rebeca Braster, toddler teacher, presented documentation from her first study with her young children, “The Circle Study.”

Judy Harris Helm served as the keynote speaker.

Her books cover a variety of topics including documentation and assessment, project work and engaged learning.

Her work has been translated into five languages and she provides consultation and training throughout the country and internationally.

Mrs. Helm plans to include documentation from Ms. Johnson’s and Mrs. Ingram’s projects in an upcoming publication as she requested that the teachers send her pictures from their projects.
