Go The Distance Day was held Friday, May 3 as a part of the Live Healthy Iowa program for kids. The event was used to get children to engage in an extra 30 minutes of physical activity, on top of sports, or physical education or recess. The Centerville School DIstrict employed “Stories in Motion” at the K-6 level. Pictured above are members of Erin Reed’s preschool class reacting to “A Snowy Day.” The students mimed such things as sledding, having snowball fights and walking through the snow. In the second picture members of Mrs. Mihalovich’s sixth grade class pretend to pass basketballs back and forth while listening to “Basketball Practice.” While the preschool class listened to their teacher read the story, the sixth graders watched a video version recorded by the high school drama class and narrated by Kayleen Durley. The class also listened to “A Visit to the Vegetable Patch.”
