Marybeth Heikes, of Centerville, announced the acceptance of her watercolor painting, “Wheels & Belts,” into the 29th National Exhibition of the Illinois Watercolor Society. This show will open May 7 at The Next Picture Show Gallery in Dixon, Ill. Sixty paintings out of 249 were selected for this exhibition by the juror.
Heikes’ painting is an abstract rendition of an old Allis Chalmers hay baler and was recently exhibited in the National Midwest Abstract Exhibit in Indianapolis last year. This competition is open to all artists 18 and over working with watermedia and must be original and completed within the last three years.
Heikes is a member of the American Watercolor Society and a signature member of the Iowa and Transparent Watercolor Societies. To gain signature status requires an artist to be accepted in three exhibitions within a 10 year period.
She maintains a home studio open by appointment daily. Her work is found in numerous public and private collections in the U.S.A.
