Well it’s certainly been a busy news week here in Exline, so we’ll dive right in.
The Fourth of July festivities were a great hit this year, and the weather was super for our 10th annual celebration. The Fireworks Committee would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who donated their time and the following sponsors: Drake Simmental, Leach Farms, Exline Community Betterment, Exline Royal Neighbors, The Exline Recreation Committee, The City of Exline, Thomas Funeral Home, Exline Ramblers, Lange Funeral Home, Fire Line Bluegrass, Brad and Shawn Hook Family, Dr. Craig Stater, Tubaugh Family Chiropractic, Exline Builders and the Iowa Missouri Gas Engine Club. Without your generous help and efforts, we couldn’t have such a wonderful celebration.
There were 38 yummy pies entered in the Fourth of July pie contest. Our six judges came away smiling and maybe a little bit heavier. The winners were Grand Champion Hope Hancox, Reserve Grand Champion Donna Timmons, first place in double crust division Sandy Whitehill and second place Jean Leach and single crust winners were first place Penny Sharp and second place Tracey Campbell.
The “Cutie Contest” winners were: in the 5-6 age group, first place Kennady Beeson, second place Olivia Vanderlinden and third place Gage Swan: in the 4-5 age group, first place Jenni Agan, second place Jaxton Joiner and third place Kylie Ewing: in the 3-4 age group, first place Kenna Lancaster, second place Zayla Elarton and third place Addyson Faris: in the 2-3 age group, first place Mason Ford, second place Aubry Owens and third place Lilly Hamlin: and in the 1-2 age group, first place Emersyn VanderLinden and second place Lauren Burger.

The Exline Citizen of the Year award is shared this year by Jim Burns and Shawn Tate. Thanks so much for all that you have done for our community.
