---- — Hello everyone. This is such a busy time of year here in Exline with all the preparations for the Fourth of July! The whole town is buzzing with activity. God bless the girls at the Exline store for their hard work. The July birthday party was held on July 3 and there were about 15 people who came and there was some delicious cake and ice cream. Tom Davis’ birthday is July 15 and our anniversaries were Tom and Joni Davis 35 years and Tina and Mike Sudbrock 34 years.
A quick reminder they are still looking for donations for the Veteran’s Memorial and Flag project. They need to raise $3,500. They are also still selling bricks as well.
The city council meeting was moved to next Tuesday at 7 p.m. due to the city clerk being on vacation. The Permaculture Society will meet July 9 at 7 p.m.
I love hand written letters and I received one this week from Berta Lee (Eddy). She sent me a long letter on her family reunion at the Exline Community Center and although I won’t print it all I felt that I would put a little bit in.
The late Clyde Eddy descendent reunion which began in the 1950s still continues to happen every year! Although not all have been held in Exline, the last 20 have. There were a few in Montezuma and a few other places. It is still jam packed full of people that attend and this year was no different. Berta Lee wrote that more than 40 people attended this year’s reunion from all over Iowa and even some from as far away as Texas. A great time of food and fun was had by all and next year’s plans are in the works.
There is now a little news box at the Exline Store that you can leave anything you want to have put in the article for the next week. You can also reach me at (641) 658-2233 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. We love to hear about all things Exline so please let us know.
