July will have lots of activities for the seniors. Once again, in the event you have not been down by the club you must do so. We now have the siding complete and look forward to putting up the maroon shutters and numbers.
We had a firecracker of a fun Fourth of July party on Wednesday, July 3. We had our fried chicken dinner, potato salad, corn and black bean salad, watermelon and hot rolls. Prior to the meal we had various games including several ring and Frisbee toss games, bowling, grand prize bucket toss and of course the annual “Watermelon seed spitting contest.”
Thursday the site was closed for July 4.
Today we will be having liver and onions, parsley butter potatoes, mixed vegetables, hot roll and ice cream cup. For those wanting a different meat choice, call.
Monday, July 8 we will start the sign-up for the Ames, West Bend and Emmetsburg trip. This trip will be August 5-7. We will tour the Iowa State University Reiman gardens, tour the wind turbans, Grotto of Redemption in West Bend and stay at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg. This trip will be $140 per person double occupancy and include; $25 in casino bucks, two free breakfasts, two free lunches, transportation and lodging. We must have 40 to take this trip however only 54 will be able to go. Tuesday is 2X’s slot play day and 50+ day also.
Tuesday, July 9 we will be having our first of the month Wii bowling tournament. Heats start at 10 a.m. and run with four people playing every half hour. Call or stop for your time. The meal for the day will be; ham salad sandwiches with lettuce and tomato slices, potato salad, broccoli, cantaloupe and oatmeal raisin cookie.
Wednesday, July 10 we will have the Appanoose County Public Health nurses in doing blood pressure checks at 10:45 a.m. The Caregiver program will start at 11:15 a.m. followed by the chicken dinner at 11:30 a.m.
