DAVENPORT — The Miss Iowa Scholarship Program will host its statewide pageant June 12-14 at the historic Adler Theatre in Davenport. Fifteen young ladies from across the state of Iowa will compete for the title of Miss Iowa 2014. The new titleholder will continue on to Miss America which will broadcast live from the Atlantic City Boardwalk on Sunday, Sept. 14. The reigning Miss Iowa 2013, Nicole Kelly of Keokuk and Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen 2013, Emma Kate Wichman, will perform at the competition. Li’l Miss Iowa, Madison Phipps of Eldridge and Junior Miss Iowa, Maddie Peterson, will also make appearances. Emcees for the event will be Miss Iowa 2012, Mariah Cary and Miss Iowa 2011, Jessica Pray, who both received national exposure as finalists for Miss America.
One of the contestants for Miss Iowa comes from Centerville.
Maddison Lange, 18, Miss Centerville is from Centerville. She will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall where she plans to major in biology with a minor in Spanish. Maddison’s platform is “Breaking Barriers: The Battle Against Juvenile Diabetes.” She will perform a tap dance.
The Miss Iowa Scholarship Program will award nearly $20,000 in cash scholarships to the 2014 contestants as well as over $500,000 in in-kind scholarships. Fourteen contestants will also compete for the titles of Junior Miss Iowa and Li’l Miss Iowa during Miss Iowa Week. Tickets for Miss Iowa 2014 are available via the Adler Box Office, 136 E.
