Centerville girl in state pageant
Haley Nichole Rain Kennedy, 12, of Centerville, daughter of Kristen Ballanger, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Iowa Pageant to be held May 3-4 at the Ramada Hotel in Waterloo. The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 and have five different age divisions. She will be participating in the preteen age division along with other outstanding young ladies from across the state of Iowa.
The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportion to compete in the National Pageant in California where she will receive an exciting complimentary tour of Hollywood and two V.I.P. tickets to Disneyland. Her activities include Drake Public Library, 4-H, band, marching band, contest band, chorus, volleyball and basketball. She also enjoys donating to disabled veterans, autism awareness, Susan B. Coleman Foundation, working out and going to the YMCA.
