THE APPANOOSE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, will hold their annual meeting at 7 p.m. at Centerville City Hall. The presentation “Our County of Cultural Diversity” will highlight the immigration stories of four Appanoose County families as told by their descendants. There will also be an intro by Enfys McMurry. Admission is free to the public. The program will follow a very brief business meeting and election of board members and officers.

HEARTLAND PREGNANCY CENTER, of Ottumwa will be hosting an open house at the center, 101 South Market, from 5-7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome.

CENTERVILLE LEGION POST 214, meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Continental at St. Joseph’s in the meeting room to the right of the V.A. office.

APPANOOSE COUNTY WEEKLY MEALS, a free meal and fellowship is held every Monday at Faith United Methodist Church on Highway 5 north of John Deere from 5-6 p.m. Rides are not being provided at this time. The menu will be chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, beets, lettuce salad, rolls, brownies and ice cream with milk, lemonade, water, tea and coffee for drinks. Grace Methodist Church from Moravia will host this meal.


BOB GROUP, meets at Centerville City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

JOIN NEST, a parent education class for expecting parents or parents with children up to 5 years old. Any parents can attend by filling out an enrollment packet. The class is Tuesdays at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Extension Office, 501 N. 12th St. in Centerville.

TAKING OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY, “TOPS,” meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

AMERICAN LEGION 280, in Moulton, will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Legion Hall.

TOUCHING OUR GRIEF, an ongoing educational grief and support group though HCI Care Service, meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the office HCI Care Services, 103 E. HONEY CREEK, 9–10 a.m. – Amphibian Walk – Listen to the calls of the amphibians during this hike with a naturalist. Meet in the Activities Building. Wear warm, comfortable clothes. Great for all ages.

UNIONVILLE IOWA LEGION POST, meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Legion Building.

ROTARY CLUB, meets each Wednesday at noon at The Manhattan Steakhouse in Centerville.


HPC DRIVE THRU DINNER, starts at 5 p.m. at State Street Station. The menu is pork loin, cheesy potatoes, salad and dessert for $6. Get free delivery inside Centerville by calling (641) 895-4513. Proceeds go to the trolley.

HONEY CREEK, 4–4:30 p.m. – Lakeside Turtle Hike – Look for turtles in the turtle pond and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the lakeside during this half hour hike with a naturalist. Meet at the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Great for all ages.

APPANOOSE COUNTY TOBACCO FREE COALITION, meets the third Thursday of each month at Drake Public Library.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS AND AL ANON, meet Thursdays at 8 p.m. in the basement at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Call (641) 856-3398 with questions.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT GROUP, will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in Conference Room A at Mercy Medical Center. Patients and caretakers are welcome to attend.


PAUL DIXON AMERICAN LEGION POST 340, meets the first Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Mystic.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY, is held every Friday at 6 p.m. at Centerville Assembly of God, 1020 E. Maple St. in Centerville.

MEMORY MINDERS/ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, holds a support group on the third Friday of each month at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville at 9 a.m. Facilitator Sherrie Doggett may be contacted at (641) 437-4111.

HONEY CREEK, 4–4:30 p.m. – Snake Blind Hike – Join a naturalist during this half-hour hike to discover if any animals are using the resort’s snake hides. Meet at the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Great for all ages. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk.


HONEY CREEK, 11–11:30 a.m. – Sun Prints – Join an interpreter in the lobby to learn how we can use the dune to make art prints of nature. Great for all ages.

2–3 p.m. – Adventure Hike – Meet at the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Great for all ages.
