January activities at 18-80 Club

CENTERVILLE — Happy New Year’s! As we start yet another year we pause to give thanks for the wonderful year we have had.  Many good memories of the fun times and places we have shared together. We pray that 2013 will have as many good times also. We started off the New Year on Dec. 28, with serving 128 meals. A wonderful time with party hats, necklaces, glasses and blowers. Of course the day was topped off with a toast.

Tuesday the 8th we will have our first Wii bowling tournament. With this being a new year everyone will start off with a clean slate and be eligible to be the overall winner.  

Wednesday the 9th we will have the Appanoose County Public Health nurses in taking blood pressures. We will have our usual chicken menu and also have the Caregivers program at 11:15 a.m.

Thursday the 10th you liver lovers will show up for the noon meal. Those that are not so excited about the liver we will have a different meat option. You must ask about it and be marked as that option also.

 Friday the 11th we will play bingo at 11 a.m. then have lunch at 11:30 a.m. with the menu being; ham balls, scalloped potatoes, broccoli and apple raisin crisp. Please make sure you are calling the day ahead if possible.

Wednesday the 16th we will have the Chef Charles program at 11 a.m. Please make sure that you are coming early if you want to be part of the program. We will have the exercise part of the program before lunch also.

Thursday the 17th we will have our birthday party with co-op with bingo at 5 p.m.  Please bring you favorite covered dish with table service. All those with January birthdays will be recognized.

Monday the 21st is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The site will be closed however the 18-80 Club is working on an over-night trip to Tama. If you are interested in the trip call and then you must come in and pay as you sign-up.  

Tuesday the 22nd will the second Wii bowling tournament for the month.  Please call or come in and sign up for this. Menu for the day is; pork cutlet, sweet potatoes, peas, mandarin oranges and tomato juice.

Wednesday the 23rd at 11:15 a.m. will be the Mercy Hospital Home Care program.We will also have a short caregivers program after their talk.

We have filled the spring trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. We will be having a trip meeting on February 21st at 3:30 p.m. to go over the fall trip to Alaska as well as go over the one-day, two-day and three or four-day trips planned for 2013.

Another date you will want to keep open is Thursday the 14th. We will be having a dinner dance as well as a noon  party.
