Day 162 — June 25 — Flip your mattress. Pick a day this week to flip and rotate your mattress. (You may need another person’s help, so reach out ahead of time if you need to.) When you’re ready, remove the sheets and blankets and move nightstands or lamps a safe distance away. Then, with the help of another person, spin the mattress so the foot of the bed is now where your head rests. Next, flip the mattress over and inspect it for dents and wear and tear. If you have a no-flip mattress, you can skip this step. Your mattress supports your back each night, and keeping it in shape sets you up for a good night’s rest. The weight of your body wears down the mattress unevenly, and over time, the pressure can lead to a saggy, lumpy mattress. Flipping and rotating it regularly helps keep your back (and the mattress) healthy.
Day 163 — June 26 — Pick out a happy outfit. Think back to a happy day and picture yourself and the activities you were doing. What you were wearing at the time? Is there a pair of shoes you wore on a great vacation? A sweater you had on during a fun family get-together? Or a hat you sported on the last beautiful, sunny day? Choose a day in the next week to wear the item again. The clothing we wear is closely linked with our emotions. Clothes can surface old memories, almost like a photograph, and gain significance based on what we were feeling at the time. Remembering and wearing clothes from a happy time can give your present mood a boost.
