OTTUMWA — Jim Davis, a member of the Indian Hills Community College recruiting staff for nearly two decades, recently received a statewide honor. Davis was named the Admission Professional of the Year by the Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling.
Davis has been with the IHCC admissions/recruiting department for the past 18 years. He was one of nine nominees for the Iowa award and received a plaque recognizing his outstanding work at the Midwest Conference of the ACAC in Madison, Wis.
An Indian Hills alum, Davis said he was shocked to even be nominated for the award. He said that receiving it “helps to keep the passion alive for what I am doing, and that is trying to convince students that Indian Hills is the best place for them to start or continue their college education.”
Davis recruits students from Iowa, Missouri and Illinois for Indian Hills and said he treasures the relationships he has made over the years.
“I work with good people and get to associate with professionals in three states,” Davis said. “Being recognized with an award like this makes you feel good and kind of reaffirms what I am doing. I know what Indian Hills did for me and I want to make sure that others have the same chance I did to get a great career and improve their lives.”
