CENTERVILLE LEGION POST 214, meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Continental at St. Joseph’s in the meeting room to the right of the V.A. office.

APPANOOSE COUNTY WEEKLY MEALS, Everyone is invited to enjoy a free meal and fellowship every Monday at Faith United Methodist Church on Highway 5 north of John Deere. Meals are available from 5-6 p.m. Rides are not being provided at this time. The menu for today will be beef tortellini, lettuce salad, cucumber salad, garlic bread, cookies and ice cream with milk, water, lemonade, coffee or tea to drink. Grace Methodist Church of Moravia will host this meal.

TUESDAY 24

DAVIS COUNTY FARMER’S MARKET, will be held from 3-6 p.m. on the Davis County Courthouse lawn in Bloomfield.

BOB GROUP, meets at Centerville City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

JOIN NEST, a parent education class for expecting parents or parents with children up to 5 years old. Any parents can attend by filling out an enrollment packet. The new class schedule that began Aug. 6 is Tuesdays at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Extension Office, 501 N. 12th St. in Centerville.

TAKING OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY, “TOPS,” meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

AMERICAN LEGION 280, in Moulton, will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Legion Hall.

TOUCHING OUR GRIEF, an ongoing educational grief and support group though HCI Care Service, meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the office HCI Care Services, 103 E. WEDNESDAY 25

CENTERVILLE FARMER’S MARKET, will be held every Wednesday through October on the north side of the Centerville Square from 3:30- 6:30 p.m. with a large variety of vegetables, baked goods, crafts, woodworking, eggs and more. The Centerville Farmers Market will be hosting SIEDA Community Action’s MIECHV unit on the third Wednesday of every month. A family centered home visitation program, will be providing activities for children of all ages at the Farmers Market. Making their own books and bubble fun are just some of the activities planned for the Farmers Market.

HONEY CREEK, 9–10 a.m. – Trails, Tracks and Scat Hike – Join a naturalist during this one hour hike to uncover the trails, tracks and scat animals have left behind. Meet at the upper deck of the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Great for all ages. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk.

Activities Building Tour, 3:30–4 p.m., Meet on the Activities Building deck to tour Honey Creek Resort’s newest facility and learn how it utilizes existing technologies to be a leader in green living.

UNIONVILLE IOWA LEGION POST, meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Legion Building.

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS, meets Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the basement at Mercy Medical Center. Call (641) 856- 3398 with questions.

HONEY CREEK, 4–4:30 p.m. – Birding Hike – Join a naturalist for this half-hour hike to discover the birds of Honey Creek Resort. Meet on the deck of the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Some binoculars and bird guides will be available but participants may want to bring their own. Great for all ages. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk.

APPANOOSE COUNTY TOBACCO FREE COALITION, meets the third Thursday of each month at Drake Public Library.

MEMORY MINDERS/ ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, holds a support group on the third Friday of each month at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville at 9 a.m. Facilitator is Sherrie Doggett who can be contacted at (641) 437-4111.

WAPELLO COUNTY FARMER’S MARKET, is now open every Friday from 2-6 p.m. at Family Video on Albia Road in Ottumwa until late October as long as the weather permits. This is a certified market to accept WIC SFMNP and CVVs.

HONEY CREEK, 4–4:30 p.m. – Reptile Hike — Join a naturalist for this half hour hike to visit the reptile hides and learn about reptiles. Meet on the Activities Building deck. Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to go off trail. Great for all ages, but some areas may have rough terrain.

HONEY CREEK, 11–11:30 a.m. – Iowa Mammals Clue – Which Iowa mammal is the money marsupial native to North America? Meet a naturalist in the lobby to learn answers to this question and other interesting mammal facts.

Salt Dough Sculptures, 3 p.m., Use your imagination and sculpting skills during this class to create your own salt dough sculptures. Meet at the Activities Building. Great for all ages.
