Well March is here and it has definitely come in like a lion. Bitter cold temps with the hopes of only warmer weather to come. Maybe it will go out like the lamb?
We start the month off with bingo at 11 a.m. just before our lunch on Friday, March 7. During the Lent we will offer fish as an option on Fridays. This will only be until Easter and you must have the order in to the desk by the closure of the day on Thursday. Fish choices will vary from week to week so it is your responsibility to see that the choice of fish is what you like. Fridays menu is; turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli, cauliflower and raisin salad with pumpkin pie.
Remember daylight savings time is Sunday, March 9; time to spring forward with our clocks. This is also the time we remind our seniors to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. If you do not have a smoke detector or are in need of batteries for yours, let us know.
Monday, March 10 we will have the opportunity to sign-up for the Tama Trip at the end of the month.
Tuesday. March 11 we will have Wii bowling starting at 10 a.m. If you have not had the chance to try this you must call and make reservations. The seniors really have a blast playing the game and watching the ones play the game. Prizes are awarded to the winners of each heat and the overall winner receives five free meals.
Wednesday, March 12 the Appanoose County Public Health nurses will be taking blood pressures from 10:45-11:15 a.m. At 11:15 a.m. Sgt. Tyson Howard will be talking to the seniors about the new “LIFE” program.
The LIFE program is designed to help the Centerville Police Department and Mercy Ambulance better assist residents in the event of an emergency. Citizens age 65 or older or anyone suffering from a chronic illness and living on their own are encouraged to provide personal information to the police department. This information will be provided to emergency personnel (police, fire and/or ambulance) to access information concerning medical issues, doctors, emergency contacts, social services and how to gain access to a key for the residence in the event of an emergency. Our chicken dinner will follow at 11:30 a.m.
