Community collects 38 units

Thanks to all the wonderful blood donors who volunteered their time to make a life-saving blood donation at the recent Centerville Community blood drive at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church. A total of 54 registered to donate blood. There were two first time donors and 19 walk ins. Thirty-eight units of blood were collected and there were six double red. A special thank you goes to Rose Cunningham and TTT AS and the Hospital Auxiliary for helping organize and sponsor this blood drive. Committed volunteers are the key to maintaining the blood supply in our local community.

Donors were Sandra Fincher, Terri Arbogast, Ronald Deahl, Jamie Conger, Richard Turner, Danny Barnhouse, Tyler Walker, Lloyd Johnson, Robert Gray, Betty McVeigh, Dennis Peters, Richard Wakefield, Katherine Brauman, Margaret Seddon, Fredrick Lavely, William Schacher, Tammy Davis, Francis Thom, Katherine Cossolotto, Jodi McDanel, Linda Rhodes, Zelda Starr, Sally Donald, David Vandermark, Mary Mazelin, David Johnson, John McKee, Neil Hershberger, Eli Hershberger, Freeman Helmuth, Annie Helmuth, Elaine Schweizer, Megan Mobley, Dale Thomas, Kelly Shenahan, Cynthia Babbitt, Debra Dell, Shane Frevert, David Powell, Kristen Sheston, Carol Brown, Nicholas Coatney, Sarah Fondaw, Cynthis Hoch, Willis Yoder, Paula Mitchell, Rachel Cortesio, Paul Dalponte, Alicia Burgher, Danny Glenn, Janie Scott, Loretta Morrow, Austen, Neilson, Belinda Noel and Renee Foster.

The Blood Center of Iowa joined operations with Siouxland Community Blood Bank in April, 2010 to become LifeServe Blood Center. As one of the 15th largest blood centers in the country. LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to 87 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. LifeServe is committed to providing premier service to volunteer blood donors and access to a safe, quality blood supply for hospitals and patients. Eligible blood donors must be at least 16 years old, should weigh at least 120 pounds and should be in general good health. Registering the donors was Barb Smith, working in the canteen were Doris Lapaglia and Doris Seat. Sandwiches were furnished by Pat Brown and Barb Smith. Advertising was done by KCOG, the Daily Iowegian and Community 1st Credit Union. Posters and post cards were done by Rose Cunningham. Calling was done by LifeServe Blood Center.
