The Franklin Farmhands 4-H Club met on Feb. 26 for their regular meeting. Some things that were discussed were: FSQA training will be held at the Extension office on April 10 and weigh ins for market lambs and meat goats will be held on Saturday, May 3.
Special guests Ernie and Merla Schmell of Seymour and Andrew Felton of Monsanto were welcomed to the meeting. Ernie had been selected as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by Monsanto. Ernie, who is an Appanoose County resident, selected the Franklin Farmhands 4-H Club to receive the $2,500 donation in Appanoose County.
The group thanked Ernie and Merla for selecting the club to receive the donation and also thanked Monsanto for offering the grant.
A demonstration was given by Franchesca Devore on the different kinds of hair products to use on show cattle.
The pledge to the American flag was led by Morgan Keller and the pledge to the 4-H flag was led by John Merritt.
The group’s next meeting will be held March 26 at 7:30 p.m.
After the meeting, refreshments were served by the Sebolts, Howells and Devores.
