---- — Ilene Bartos, quilt designer, author and teacher, will be presenting a trunk show at the Honey of a Quilt Show at Honey Creek Resort on March 8 at 1:30 p.m. The show is presented by the Material Girlz.
Bartos grew up sewing cloth and crafting. But her love of quilting developed many years later. One day, while working in her office cubicle, she overheard a conversation between work friends discussing their latest quilting projects. Bartos was intrigued and invited herself to their quilt group. That was 18 years ago, and her adventure into quilting was just beginning.
Bartos’ passion is designing quilts and she began redesigning quilt patterns early in her career. She started as a traditional quilter but now considers herself more a contemporary quilter. Her use of color, shape and line come together to make wonderful contemporary patterns. Bartos draws inspiration from nature and the expressed emotion of color. As a quilter, she loves color, especially putting unusual colors together. Like many quilters, she enjoys adding a “zinger of color.” Bartos’ flair for design led her to author two books, “Maple Leaf Quilt Patterns” and “Spectacular Rectangles.”
Bartos loves sharing her passion with others and is available to teach any of her designs, in either a quilt shop or guild setting.
