---- — The Drake Public Library welcomed several children and parents to their American Girl Doll Valentine’s Day Tea Party on Saturday.

More than 10 girls visited the library for snacks and crafts and many brought their personal dolls with them for the party. The library’s three American Girl Dolls, Felicity, Cecile and Marie Grace, also attended the party held from 12:30-2 p.m. on the upper level of the library.

The event is part of the ongoing American Girl Doll lending program the library recently started. The Felicity doll was purchased by the library to start the program and a Cecile and Marie Grace doll as well as books were donated by a community member. There are also books and accessories that go with the dolls that patrons can take home at check out as well as other books available.

The idea to start the American Girl Doll lending program came from other librarian’s around the state said Drake children’s librarian JeNel Barth.

Anyone interested in checking out an American Girl Doll can add their name to a sign up list for any of the three dolls at the library. The dolls are checked out to the next person on the list after they are returned by the previous patron.
