CENTERVILLE LEGION POST 214, meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Continental at St. Joseph’s in the meeting room to the right of the V.A. office.

APPANOOSE COUNTY WEEKLY MEALS, invites everyone to enjoy a free meal and fellowship every Monday at Faith United Methodist Church on Highway 5 south near John Deere. Meals are available from 5-6 p.m. The menu for Monday will be potato soup, carrot soup, ham sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, relish tray and pudding cups with milk, lemonade, water, coffee or tea to drink. Grace Methodist from Moravia will host this meal.

TUESDAY 14

BOB GROUP, meets at Centerville CIty Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

JOIN NEST, a parent education class for expecting parents or parents with children up to 3 years old. Any parents can attend by filling out an enrollment packet. There is a class held at 1:30 p.m., one at 5 p.m. and one at 6 p.m. each Tuesday at the Extension Office, 501 N. 12th St. in Centerville.

TAKING OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY, “TOPS,” meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m. and meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

AMERICAN LEGION 280, in Moulton, will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Legion Hall.

TOUCHING OUR GRIEF, an ongoing educational grief and support group though HCI Care Service, meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the office HCI Care Services, 103 E. Van Buren St., Centerville. It is free and open to the public. For more information contact Brian Hargrave, bereavement counselor, at (641) 856-5502.

WEDNESDAY 15

HONEY CREEK, 9–10 a.m. – Birding Hike – Join a naturalist for this one-hour hike to discover the birds of Honey Creek Resort. Meet at the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Some binoculars and bird guides will be available but participants may want to bring their own. Great for all ages. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk. 3:30–4 p.m. – Activities Building Tour – Meet on the Activities Building deck to tour Honey Creek Resort’s newest facility and learn how it utilizes existing technologies to be a leader in green living.

UNIONVILLE IOWA LEGION POST, meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Legion Building.

HONEY CREEK, 4–4:30 p.m. – Nest Walk – Discover the variety of nests during this half-hour hike with a naturalist. Meet at the Activities Building. Great for all ages.

APPANOOSE COUNTY TOBACCO FREE COALITION, meets the third Thursday of each month at Drake Public Library.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS AND AL-ANON, meet Thursdays at 8 p.m. in the basement at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Call (641) 856-3398 with questions.

HONEY CREEK, 3–3:45 p.m. – Activities Building Open House – Visit the Activities Building during this time to learn about the Activities Building, discover the naturalist programs for the weekend, or ask questions about Honey Creek Resort State Park.4– 4:30 p.m. – Birding Hike – Join a naturalist for this half-hour hike to discover the birds of Honey Creek Resort. SATURDAY 18

HONEY CREEK, 11–11:30 a.m. – Attracting Birds – Join a naturalist in the lodge lobby to learn how to attract birds to your backyard. Meet in the Lodge lobby. Great for all ages.2–3 p.m. – Migration Hike – discover which birds are migrating through the area during this one-hour hike with a naturalist. Meet at the Activities Building. Wear comfortable clothes. Some binoculars will be provided but you may wish to bring your own. Great for all ages. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk. 3:30–4 p.m. – Activities Building Tour – Meet on the Activities Building deck to tour Honey Creek Resort’s newest facility and learn how it utilizes existing technologies to be a leader in green living. 6–6:30 p.m. – Nature Tales – Join a naturalist around the Activities Building fire ring to enjoy s’mores and hear a story about nature. If weather is not suitable for being outside we will read a story by the lobby fireplace.
