The Daily Iowegian will publish an Editorial Question of the Week on the Opinion page.

The Iowegian wants readers to think about the recent assertion made by President Barack Obama that marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol when it comes to how it impacts users.

Obama made that statement and others, including his use of marijuana as a kid and how minorities are arrested and imprisoned for marijuana at a disproportionate rate during an interview with The New Yorker.

So, the question of the week is, “Do you agree with President Obama? Is marijuana less dangerous than alcohol?”

Go to the Daily Iowegian website, www.dailyiowegian.com, and scroll down the home page to POLL on the right hand side and cast your vote. Or call the Iowegian office at (641) 856-6336 or email the editor at iowegianeditor@mchsi.com to cast a vote.

Vote on the Question of the Week up until Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 12 p.m. The results will be published in the Thursday, Jan. 30 paper along with a new question.

Here are the results from the last poll question: “Should unemployment benefits be extended once again or have they gone on long enough?”

A. Unemployment benefits should be extended received 52 votes.

B. Unemployment benefits have been extended enough already received 82 votes.
