Kathleen Sadaro, 89, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.
She was born Nov. 22, 1923 in Centerville, the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth (Shanahan) Gerdon. Kathleen graduated from Centerville High School. She married Guy Sadaro in January of 1945, and to this union, two children were born, David and Diane.
Kathleen was a homemaker in her children’s early years. She later went to work for Sears Store located on the levee in Centerville. Kathleen eventually became employed in the accounting field with the Bloomfield Foundry. Ultimately, she worked as an accountant with the family business, Jef-Scott Metals, until her retirement.
She loved traveling with Guy, especially their trips to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed golfing in her free time. Kathleen was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville.
She is survived by her two children, David Sadaro of Cincinnati and Diane (Frank) Belloma of Centerville; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shelly) Belloma of Pella, Scott (Kristie) Sadaro of Kansas City, Mo. and Sally (Joshua) Baumgardner of Seattle, Wash.; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Fran Ellis of Davenport; and a sister-in-law, Florence Sadaro of Chicago, Ill.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Leonard Gerdon.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. There will be no public visitation.
Memorials have been established to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
