Marilyn Perkins, 69, of Mystic passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Wayne County Hospital.
Marilyn was born in Muscatine on Aug. 11, 1944 to John and Madge (Inglish) Vaira. She married Dean Perkins on March 18, 1961 in Lancaster, Mo. Marilyn was formerly an office manager at the Appanoose County Public Health Office in Centerville.
Marilyn enjoyed collecting antiques with her family. She was a member of Business of Professional Women, Iowa Association of School Boards (District VIII director), past president of Centerville School Board, P.E.O. and Tri-T. Marilyn was nominated by Gov. Terry Brandstad to the School Budget Review Committee for Iowa.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dean, of Mystic; two sons, Brian Perkins of Centerville and Lt. Col. John Perkins and his wife, Pam, of Johnston; four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jacob, Katlyn and Nickolas Perkins; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Perkins of Centerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Paul Perkins.
Marilyn was cremated and no services are planned at this time. A private interment of her ashes will be held at Numa Cemetery at a later date.
The family has requested no memorials to be given at this time.
