---- — Betty D. Matelski, 85, of Davenport, passed away Wed-nesday, May 8, 2013 at Genesis East inDavenport.
Services in celebration of her life were held at 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road in Davenport, where her family greeted friends from 2-5 p.m. Burial will be in Felkner Cemetery in Centerville. Memorials may be made to C.A.S.I. or Scott Co. Hum-ane Society.
Mrs. Matelski was born in 1928 in Centerville to Earl and Inez Fry. She married Edward L. Matelski on June 30, 1948 in Davenport. He died April 13, 1994. Over the years she worked for a number of retail stores, including Turn Style, Petersen’s, Scott Co. Feed and Haag Drug (on Brady). She was an active member of C.A.S.I. in her later years. She enjoyed travel, volunteer work, working crossword puzzles, casinos and spending time with her family. She had many friends and enjoyed participating in numerous activities with them. Her generous nature donated regularly to ASPCA, the Humane Society, Disabled Veterans and numerous other organizations.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Matelski (husband Max Lang) of Orlando, Fla.; son, Dennis (Dawn) Matelski of Davenport; grandchildren, Dennis, Jr. and Amy; and step-grandchildren, Christina and Rolando; and great-grandson, James. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar.
