Laraine Norma (Radosevich) VanOrt, 81 of Centerville, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville. She died fighting a courageous battle with kidney disease.
Laraine was born March 14, 1931 in Brazil, Iowa to Charles and Amelia (Maggie) Radosevich. The family lived in Iowa until Laraine was 8 years old before moving to Michigan, and later Illinois. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1949. She married Herbert Thomas VanOrt in 1955. They later divorced. Her last job prior to moving back to Iowa was at Lyons Electric in Lyons, Ill. as a secretary.
When the family moved back to Iowa, she took care of her parents until she returned to work at the Appanoose County Courthouse. She worked 16 years, from 1977-1993, as a secretary in the Engineer’s Office before retiring.
Laraine enjoyed her retirement. She liked attending her grandchildren’s ball games and outside events.
Laraine is survived by two daughters, Terry Williamson and Claudia (Tom) Blozovich; five grandchildren, Kate Williamson, Wayland Williamson, Dane Blozovich, Meggie Blozovich, and Colter Stewart; a sister, Mary Cowles; and a brother, Lewis Radosevich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Max Radosevich.
Per her wishes, Laraine’s body has been cremated and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
