In 1967 Leroy joined United Airlines. He was based out of Los Angles and later Chicago. Leroy flew B-720, B-727, DC-10, B-737 and retired as a Boeing 767 Captain in 1994. He was a very busy man, while still flying, owned and operated a hardware store and a tax business. After retirement he helped start 911 in Unionville, with the help of Barbara Swiger, who became the 911 administrator. 911 was just what Unionville needed.
Leroy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John David Lewis, his parents, his grandparents, on both sides, nephew, Randall L. Tietsort, his uncle, Larry Tietsort, In-Laws John D. and Margaret Lewis and sister-in-law Sandra Wright.
Survivors are his wife, Nancy Tietsort, son John F. and his wife Susan R. Tietsort and grandson, Daniel J. Kunkle all of Sedona, Ariz. A brother, Lanny O. and his wife Shirley J.Tietsort and a niece, Debra Tietsort and her son Brandon Tietsort and wife Kelley, nephew Bradley Tietsort all of Belton, Mo. David M. Lewis and his wife Tiena Lewis, nephews David D. Lewis, Gregory and his wife Amanda and daughter Khloe Lewis all of Seymour.
Leroy is now with his heavenly Father, where there is no sorrow, pain or suffering. He will be greatly missed by Nancy, family, friends and neighbors. May God bless each and every one of you, that’s what Leroy would want for you.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Howard Luscan officiating. Burial to follow at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Mo. with military honors by veterans of Putnam County.
