---- — Dorothy Rodgers, 89, of Centerville, passed away Friday May 9, 2014 at the Continental St. Joseph’s in Centerville.
Dorothy was born March 7, 1925 in Cincinnati, the daughter of James and Beatrice (Martin) Milner. She graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1942. Dorothy was united in marriage to Bob Rodgers on July 16, 1944.
Dorothy continued her education at Centerville Community College (Indian Hills) as well as at Buena Vista University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Dorothy was raised on a farm, was a teller at Centerville National Bank and taught school for 20 years at St. Mary’s in Centerville. She was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church, the Women’s Christian Fellowship and she served on the board for Appanoose for the Milestones Area Agency on Aging.
Dorothy is survived by two children, Diana (Ron) Brinegar of Centerville and Mike Rodgers of Centerville; four grandchildren, Rob (Angie) Talbot, Chris (Heather) Talbot, Scott Rodgers and Kelsey Rodgers; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Talbot, Haven Talbot and Hunter Talbot; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Steel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; two brothers, James and Paul Milner; and a sister, Evelyn Hunt.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with Pastor Sara Galindo officiating. A visitation will be held between 1-2 p.m. Wednesday before the service. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.
A memorial has been established to the Centerville 18-80 Club and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
