UNIONVILLE, Mo. — Jean Ann Shumaker-Siems, 62, of Unionville, Mo., passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 after battling cancer.

A me-morial service will be held for Jean on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo. Jean’s visitation will begin one hour prior to her service. Inurnment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Jeanie Shumaker-Siems was born on Christmas day 1950 in Centerville, the daughter of Lyle Wells and Glenna (Hawkins). Jeanie married Dan James Siems in Unionville, Mo. on Oct. 9, 2004. Jeanie devoted over 40 years to the nursing profession where she loved her patients on a personal level. Those patients were her top priority while she spent countless hours caring for them like family. Even with her failing health, she would go to work because of the compassion she felt for her patients. Jeanie and Dan’s home is nestled perfectly in the woods where they enjoyed bird watching together. Jeanie loved to read and liked watching HGTV along with collecting specific antiques. She always enjoyed her cup of coffee while visiting with family and friends. Jeanie will be especially missed by her dog “Rinni” who was so very special to her.

Jeanie Shumaker-Siems is survived by her husband, Dan, of the home; and siblings, Kathy Cullor and husband, John, of Cincinnati, Patty Womboldt and husband, Ed, of Unionville, Mo., Susie Poland and husband, Frank, of Brashear, Mo., Lyle E. Wells and wife, Karol, John Wells and wife, Paula, Bill Wells and wife, Tammy, all of Cincinnati and Athena Heidenwith and husband Clint of Unionville, Mo. Jean’s mother-in-law, Shirley Siems, of Port Edwards, Wis., survives along with brothers-in-law, Todd Siems, Ron Siems and wife, Shelly and Mark Vesper all of Wisconsin. Surviving sisters-in-law include Debbie Wells of Cincinnati, Rose Marie Siems, Tina Siems and husband, Ken and Peggy Trickle all of Wisconsin. Jeanie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to Jeanie’s parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Wells; father-in-law, Jack Siems; and three brothers-in-law, Jack, Brad and Larry Siems.
