Larry Dubberke, 80, died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home in Hubbard.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard. Larry was buried at the Hubbard Cemetery.

Larry Ernest Dubberke was born Oct. 20, 1932, to Ernest A. and Josie H. (Musland) Dubberke on a farm southwest of Garden City.
He was baptized Jan. 25, 1933, and was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Hubbard.
Larry attended country school through the eighth grade and Radcliffe High School, graduating with the Class of 1951. He began helping his dad at the age of 12-13 years. After graduating from high school, he attended Iowa State University for one year playing baseball and pitching for Cap Timm.
On Nov. 7, 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army and assigned to the Brty A 201st FA Bn training at the Physical Training School to become a drill sergeant. While deployed in Germany, he played baseball for the U.S. Army baseball team. He was discharged from active duty on Nov. 1, 1954 at Fort Sheridan, Ill. and remained in the Army Reserves for eight years.
On March 22, 1953, Larry was united in marriage to Sally Ann (Carlson) Dubberke at the Lutheran Pastor's home in Northwood. He began working as a carpenter with his father, Ernest, and his brother Keith. Larry worked as a carpenter for 40 plus years and at the age of 68 decided to travel and build his model airplanes.
Larry was a member of the American Legion Post No. 4 in Hubbard for more than 50 years serving as the Sergeant of Arms. He was a volunteer at Bidwell Riverside in Des Moines. He taught Sunday school for many years at the Salem United Methodist Church where he also served as a lay minister.
Larry was called to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2013 at his home in Hubbard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sally, of Hubbard; four children, Mark and his wife, Holly, of Hubbard, Randy and his wife, Wendy, of Cambridge, Terry and her husband, Tino Terrones, of Centerville and Mike and his wife, Jean, of Nevada, Iowa; nine grandchildren Aubrey and Dustin Dubberke, Lerin and Alanna Dubberke, Tino III, Troy and Tyler Terrones and Rebecca and Gabe Dubberke; two great-grandchildren Tino IV and Maleah; brother Keith and his wife, Judy, of Garden City; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Josie Dubberke; grandchild, Sarabeth Dubberke; sister, Betty Helgeson; and brother-in-law, Sanford Helgeson.
