---- — Joseph R. “Joe” Rock, 91, formerly of Centerville, died at 11:15 a.m. June 19, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922 in Centerville to Jack and Tereza Kauzlarich Rock. He married Frances Jemison on July 4, 1947. She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 1994.

Joe was a graduate of Centerville High School and a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He worked as office manager for John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa and in Memphis, Tenn., retiring in August 1988.

He was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church in Ottumwa and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion. Joe enjoyed dancing and gardening.

Surviving is his daughter, Betty Jo (LaVerne) Butterbaugh of Boone; two grandchildren, Nicole (Dan) Neubauer of Ankeny and Tereza Butterbaugh of Boone; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Mitchell and Emily Neubauer.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank Kauzlarich, William Rock, Matthew Rock and Stephen Rock; three sisters, Mary Holbrook, Katie Fisher and Helen Archibald.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard St. United Methodist Church.
