CENTERVILLE — Ida Louise (Kruzich) Maletta, 89, of Johnston, formerly of Centerville and Mystic, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center.
She was born Dec, 13, 1924 in Diamond, to Anton and Rakela Kruzich. She attended Mystic Schools.
Ida married John Anthony Maletta in Mystic on Dec. 29, 1945 and enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage until John’s death in October of 2013. Together they raised a daughter and two sons in Mystic where Ida was very active in the community.
Ida’s career included working for Iowa Southern Utilities and Appanoose County Auditor. She was a member of the RA Club, Flower Club, St. Francis Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society, as well as Mystic Alumni Association and Mystic Cemetery Association. Before moving to Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in 2013, she was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; half brother, Tom Kruzich; half sister, Jennie Susic; and son, Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Jim) Roth, of Ankeny; her son, John (Luann) of Des Moines; her sister, Marie McNamara of Lancaster, Wisconsion; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Adrian Ramos, of Centerville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ida loved and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Michael (Jennifer) Roth, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rachel (Matt) Williams, of Grimes, Abigail (Matt) Hollenbeck, of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Kate (Jake) Ketzner, of Clive, Nick Maletta, of Waukee, and Sara (Glenn) Eikenberry of Arlington Heights, Illinois; as well as her three great-grandchildren, Noah Roth, Leighton and Thalia Hollenbeck.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. A visitation will be held all day on today at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
