---- — Julius Junior “Boomer” Dove, 90, of Centerville, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab.
Junior was born in Centerville to Anthony and Ida (Connor) Dove on Aug. 7, 1923. He received his education graduating from Centerville High School. Junior served his country during World War II in the United States Army Corps. After his return from Germany, he began working in the construction business as an iron worker. He was employed by Weitz Construction for the majority of his career.
Junior was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 2675 in Centerville and the American Legion Post No. 214. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most will remember Junior with Ruth by his side. Of all things he enjoyed, “going out on the town” with Ruth was by far his favorite. He will be missed by many dear friends and family.
Survivors include, three nieces and nephews, Sandra Banks of Seymour, Larry Dove of Missouri and Dennis Dove of Mystic; longtime companion, Ruth Hedberg, and her daughter, Bev (Jim) Howe of Ottumwa and their children, Cathy (Michael) Britt of Batavia, Chris (Mike) Durflinger of Bloomfield, Jim Howe of Ottumwa and Eric (Jamie) Howe of Agency.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merryl (Proctor) Dove; and two brothers, Sammy and Leishman Dove.
Funeral service were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at Thomas Funeral Home. Visitation was held one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Interment was in Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville.
