Joyce Wilson, 74, of Centerville, and formerly of Ottumwa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Joyce was born to Harry and Lois (Mason) Slesinski in Hedrick on Aug. 12, 1939. Growing up with her three siblings, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and crafts.
After graduating, Joyce worked as an office manager for an attorney and later for the cities of Ottumwa and Canton, Ill. for Urban Renewal and Wapello County Engineer-Roads Department. In 1995 Joyce began driving for the Ottumwa 10-15 Transit Bus system until her retirement in 2010.
Joyce enjoyed playing board games especially playing the game, TROUBLE with Marriah (Joey). She also enjoyed working with puzzles and cheering on her granddaughters at their events and activities.
Survivors include daughter Karla (Randy) Rupalo, of Centerville; two brothers, Ivan Slesinski, of What Cheer and Gary (Jean) Slesinski, of Rochester, Minn.; sister, Sandra Samson, of Newton; four granddaughters, Maranda, Marissa, Malinda and Marriah Rupalo, all of Centerville; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Hargrave officiating. Interment will be private and at a later date.
