---- — Richard “Pop Can Jim” Freeborn, 79, of Centerville, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
He was born the son of William and Lucy (Ward) Freeborn on April 26, 1934 in Springfield, Mo. He attended school in Unionville, Mo.
Jim worked many years at New Focus in Centerville. He could be seen all around the town of Centerville collecting cans. He so enjoyed his friendships with everyone at Centerville Community Betterment and the area group homes.
In death, “Pop Can Jim” joins his parents; brother, Howard Freeborn; and sisters, Ruth Harris and Dorothy Leckbee.
His is survived by a sister, Jean Peterson, of Keokuk.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial of his ashes will take place at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Mo.
