---- — Jeffery Allen Babb, 49, beloved son, brother and uncle of Centerville, died Sunday morning, March 9, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center Long Term Care in Centerville.

Jeff was born Jan. 10, 1965 in Buchanan, Mich., the son of James and Jean Babb.

Jeff lived many years at the Glenwood State School and Hospital in Glenwood. He spent the last 5.5 years of his life at Mercy Medical Center Long Term Care in Centerville. Jeff loved his music, especially the song “On Top of Spaghetti.” He loved playing his guitar and making up his own songs. Jeff also loved riding motorcycles in his early years and shooting his big guns. He enjoyed “Cat in the Hat,” “Wizard of Oz,” as well as many other classic TV shows. Jeff enjoyed his picnics and outside barbeques, hotdogs, and don’t forget, the diet coke. God took a very special Angel. Jeff never met a person he didn’t like and everyone who met Jeff loved him. He had a very soft spot in his heart for babies. He will be greatly missed.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Jean Babb, of Cincinnati; brothers, Jim Babb, of Cincinnati and Jerry (Becky) Babb, of Centerville; sisters, Jeanine (Billy) Shiltz of Cincinnati and Janie (Bill Brink) Wood of Centerville; a grandmother, Lura Lewis of Spencer, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Babb; grandmother, Jane Lane; his grandfather, Franklin Lane; and a nephew, Johnathan Shiltz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. before the funeral service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville.

A memorial has been established to the Jeffrey Babb Memorial Fund and may be left or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
