---- — Kelly Leigh Morlan, 55, of Centerville, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born on May 3, 1958 in Unionville, Mo., the son of Gene “Keith” and Joyce (Kessler) Morlan. Kelly graduated from Moulton High School in 1976. He married Sherri Thomas on Oct. 18, 1980.
Kelly worked as a bartender, laborer for BN Railroad, Country Village Lumberyard and as a car salesman for DeVore Motors, Vaughn Motors and Jim Buban Motors.
He enjoyed reading and studying history and the Bible. He became an ordained minister in 2003. Kelly was a member of the Moulton Christian Church.
Kelly is survived by his wife Sherri Morlan of Centerville; two children, Jon (Casey Clemens) Morlan of Moravia, Iowa, Joscelyn (Scott Gottman) Morlan and grandson Blayne Morlan all of Centerville, Iowa; three step-grandchildren, Heidi, Haley, and Hunter Gottman all of Centerville, Iowa; four brothers, Kerry Morlan of Centerville, Iowa, Kevin Morlan of Winterset, Iowa, Kent (Marla) Morlan of Moulton and Kyle Morlan of Olathe, Kansas; three sisters, Janel (Craig) Jannusch of Morgan Hill, Calif., Janan Richardson of Austin, Texas and Jara (John) Kincart of Madrid; an uncle, Clayton (Betty) Morlan of Cameron, Mo.; mother-in-law, Norma Thomas of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gene “Keith” and Joyce Morlan; his father-in-law, Laurel “Gene” Thomas; and a brother-in-law, Sam Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24 at the Moulton Christian Church in Moulton with Pastor Reggie Higgenbottom officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Moulton.
A memorial has been established to the Moulton Christian Church and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
